Dew drops furnish evergreen leaves pre-dawn, beckoning the morning sunshine to rise. To shine all glories of its generous sun rays, to give hope, life and a second chance to all mankind. A sulking teenage son seek forgiveness from his parents for his bad temper the previous day while making breakfast for them. A mother preparing her successful CEO husband to work and fuss all her young children to go to school. A girl checking her luggage for the last time before heading towards the KL International Airport for a deserving holiday around the world. A young man in prison anticipating his freedom day, as he prepares himself to meet with his loving wife, his child, his aging parents and his siblings.
But sometimes, it rains and it rains really bad. A woman who lost her husband to cancer the day before, facing another day alone in this world. A victim of rape and sexual abuse living in perils of fear for the rest of her life. A father who believed in his obedient and filial son discovers that he is a drug addict, a robber, a murderer and a serial rapist who have been shot by the police the previous night, living in blame and guilt for being the part of his upbringing. A pregnant woman lost her child after a dreadful fall and can never have child again. Divorced couples constantly bickering and arguing and hating each other. Watching a son, the woman’s only reason to live, die in her arms. Unexpected natural disasters claiming lives and happiness.
The weather of life lives in a constant cycle. Like how clouds gathered cause rain or thunderstorms, rainbow and a clear sky brings a sunshine day. Each annual cycle in Malaysia, we have the hot season and rainy season throughout the year, since we are staying close to the equator. What if the cycles of life is the representation of our lives? What if the clouds gathered in the sky, represents anger? Then it all make sense. Anger is dangerous because it attracts rain and thunderstorms into your life. Although we cannot stop our circumstances like the season of the year to rain and flood, we can always break into a sunshine day by working hard by it.
Even a bomoh has to pray and dance in a trance-like state to invite sun or rain to come. Whatmore, us as normal living human beings? Would we be excepted because we are ’special’ and be a victims of our own circumstances all the time? Think about it. What makes us so special? You and I (if none of us are handicapped) should have two eyes, one nose, one mouth, two ears, two arms, two legs and a brain. What in the right mind do you think makes you ’so special’ that you should be excepted from all the hardwork to bring your sunshine days sooner than it would have come to lazy people?
We should be kings of our destiny while being led by the Great King Himself. In life, as long as we are alive, we have the capacity to pursue our dreams in life, to chase the distresses in life and transform them to happiness. If you are still clueless what your dreams might be, then it’s a high and mighty time for you to think about it. Without a sense of purpose in life, we will be lost, wandering in a desert without ever knowing why we were there in the first place.
Remember. We must be strong. No journey is ever simple. The rain and thunderstorms are often painful, but once you learn from your current situation, then it’s okay. If uncertainty is your problem, then, go and search for the sea of possibility where your heart leads you – what you want to do in life. When you know what your heart wants, even through rainy thunderstorms, you will see the rainbow. The sunshine you hope for is never too far away. All you have to do is to search your heart, believe in yourself and do whatever it takes for you to reach there.
And remember. No success is built overnight.
